Natural Resources of Costa Rica

Wondering what some of the natural resources of Costa Rica are? This land is lush in every sense of the word, which is why it’s quickly becoming a popular business location.

Many of the world’s largest companies are beginning to realize just how valuable this republic is. Not only is it situated perfectly (wedged between some of the world’s major ports), but it is also rich with many different types of products that are native to the land. Though you may have some clue as to the natural resources of Costa Rica, a few of them might surprise you. Aside from the many products that are grown within the soil, this land also has a large source of hydroelectric power, forest products, and fisheries products.

Other native products include: bananas, pineapples, coffee, beef, sugar, rice, dairy, vegetables, fruits, and ornamental plants. Since all of these things can be founding within this country regularly, this may be the land of true opportunity for many big businesses. In fact, some of the world’s top electronics manufacturers have begun to call this land home, which is why the list of major exports may surprise you. Costa Rica exports total $8,198 billion, and they include: integrated circuits, medical equipment, textiles, and electronic components (along with many of the foods that can be found throughout the country).

Since there are so many natural resources of Costa Rica, various countries throughout the globe are taking an interest when it comes to trading. Those countries that are opening up their ports to Costa Rica include the United States, China, Hong Kong, Netherlands, and Guatemala. It is not difficult to see that this country has become a very important part of the world economy. Though most tourists head to this part of the world for a bit of sand and sun, lots of things are happening right underneath their sunburnt noses.



If you happen to be traveling to this country, take a look around you. Not only will you notice that there are many different types of electronic companies based there, but you will also notice that nearly everything in use actually comes from the country itself. This is largely due to the fact that the only things this country imports are raw materials, consumer goods, capital equipment, and petroleum.

The many natural resources of Costa Rica are interesting to study given the wide variety of things that can be found within this republic. The next time you head to this part of the world for vacation, think about the numerous items that the land itself is able to produce.
